FRANCE. Louis Vuitton is gearing up to create its own fragrance after reportedly acquiring the services of third-generation perfumer Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud.
The French fashion house has reportedly been working with Cavallier-Belletrud since January, with a view to entering the scent market.
Jacques has worked on popular fragrances L’Eau d’Issey, Jean Paul Gaultier Classic, Dior Addict, Poeme by Lancome, Stella by Stella McCartney and Cinema by Yves Saint Laurent. He was awarded the Prix Francois Coty Parfumeur accolade in 2004.

According to WWD, Louis Vuitton – which is yet to confirm details of the launch – is thought to have been investigating rare flowers in France that could be used as elements of its scent.The French brand’s creative director Marc Jacobs has long expressed a wish for the company to enter the fragrance market and in June he hinted the world’s largest luxury brand is “working on” a perfume.
He said: “There’s no Vuitton Beaute. At this moment, there is no fragrance although we’re working on that.”
Jacobs entered the Fragrance Foundation’s Hall of Fame in 2009 after the success of his eponymous brand’s family of fragrances, including Lola, Bang and Daisy.
