One of the aspects that the publication covers is urban poverty and residents' perception of such poverty. In order to find this, the researchers posed the following statement to residents of 75 major cities in Europe — "In this city poverty is a problem."
Those surveyed were asked to either strongly agree, somewhat agree, somewhat disagree or strongly disagree with the statement. Eurostat then listed the cities based on what percentage of those asked either totally or partially agreed that there was a poverty problem in the cities.
